2025 Term 3 Week 8 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Sacred Heart Community,
As we move through Week 8, the warmer weather is beginning to make an appearance, though today’s chill and rain reminds us that winter isn’t quite done yet! Today is so very different to yesterday!
Staffing News
Following a recent selection process, two teachers have been recommended to Catholic Education for appointment as classroom teachers at Sacred Heart, commencing in 2026.
- Mrs Kate Moskal is currently teaching Year 1 at Mawson Primary School and brings a wealth of experience from her time at Mawson, Florey Primary, and Gold Creek Schools since 2015.
- Miss Claudia Moritz is currently a Year 6 teacher at St Clare of Assisi Primary School in Conder, where she has taught for the past four years across the school.
We warmly welcome Kate and Claudia to our school community and look forward to the energy and expertise they will bring to Sacred Heart.
School Uniform concerns
At Sacred Heart, our school uniform is more than just clothing it’s a visible expression of our shared identity, values, and pride in our school. It reflects our ethos of unity, respect, and belonging, and helps create an environment where students can focus on learning without the distractions of fashion trends or peer pressure.
While most of our students wear their uniforms with pride, we are currently facing a growing concern around one particular aspect: black school shoes. The expectation is clear black, polishable school shoes yet we are seeing an increasing number of students wearing incorrect footwear, including black slippers, canvas style shoes and coloured sneakers.
This not only undermines the uniform policy but also affects the overall tone and standards we strive to maintain. Proper footwear is important for safety, posture, and presentation, and it plays a key role in reinforcing the discipline and consistency that help our students thrive.
We understand that sourcing the correct shoes can sometimes be challenging, especially with growing children and busy family schedules. However, we ask for your support in ensuring that all students come to school in the correct black school shoes each day. If there are any financial or practical barriers, please don’t hesitate to reach out I am here to help.
Thanks for your support.
Staff Professional Learning
This week, we’ve also had the privilege of hosting two important professional learning visits. Today, Jaime Phillips from COGlearn joined us from Queensland to work with our teaching staff on enhancing our High Impact Teaching Practice (HITP). The day included classroom walkthroughs, demonstration lessons, and targeted feedback sessions, all aligned with our Annual Improvement Plan. Jaime’s visit provided valuable insights and practical strategies to strengthen our teaching and improve student outcomes.
On Friday, we welcome Jo Barrett, MultiLit Partnerships Consultant, and Gill Forrester from the Catholic Education Office for a full day of support focused on our K–6 literacy intervention programs. The morning will focus on InitiaLit in K–2 (which we implemented this year), followed by sessions on MiniLit Sage and MacqLit, with leadership discussions in the afternoon to reflect on current practices and plan for future development. These visits are a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
Have a fantastic week and thank you for your continued support of us here at Sacred Heart.
Go the Raiders!
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
Principal

Saturday Netball
Last Saturday saw the completion of the Arawang Junior netball competition in which Sacred Heart had a yr 2/3 team and a 3/4 Team both coached by Jasmine Woods.
Not only did Jasmine coach both teams, she was also the on the ground netball coordinator, supported by mums from each of the teams.
Sacred Heart is so grateful to Jasmine for the time and dedication she has put into the teams this season, the girls have improved so much across the season.
Congratulations on a wonderful season.
Here is a testimonial from a parent:
A Huge Thank You to Coach Jasmine
This season has been a fantastic one for both our Year 2/3 Blizzards and Year 3/4 Lightning Bolts, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible dedication of our coach, Jasmine.
Jasmine has given her time, energy, and encouragement to every player, helping them develop their skills, teamwork, and confidence on the court. From early training sessions to game days filled with excitement, her enthusiasm has kept both teams motivated and supported throughout the season.
The Blizzards and the Lightning Bolts have not only grown as players but also built lasting friendships and a love for the game, thanks to Jasmine’s guidance.
On behalf of all the players and parents, we want to say a heartfelt thank you, Jasmine. We are so grateful for the positive impact you’ve had on both teams
