COMPASS Notifications

We are going to trial a new schedule for COMPASS Notifications. The idea came out of the last Community Council open meeting.

We will schedule daily notifications to post from 3pm. This will hopefully mean less interruptions during the day for parents and carers. It also means that if you do receive a notice from COMPASS during the day, it will usually be about your child being absent or an announcement that we consider urgent.

Term 4 Summer Uniform

Students wear summer uniforms from the beginning of Term 4. As usual we will have a 2-week phase in period to help manage the change and weather.

School summer uniform is worn with black formal school shoes and a school hat.

A reminder that:

  • Students may wear their sport uniform and sneakers on the nominated days only.
  • Fingernails must be kept short. Nail polish is not allowed.
  • Hair should be of natural colour, of even grade (no shorter than a No 3 comb). Extremes are to be avoided.
  • Hair which is shoulder length and longer,  needs to be tied back with natural-coloured bands and uniform coloured ties or ribbons.

We appreciate your cooperation with our school uniform policy. Please refer to the Uniform Policy on our website for further details. https://sacredhps.act.edu.au/policies-forms

Fundraising and the 2023 Colour Fun Run

Colour_Fun_Run.jpg

The Colour Fun Run is our fundraiser for 2023.

Our annual fundraisers are vitally important to our school for building our great school community, our visibility in the wider community and for raising funds for the important extra things that help our school run each day.

The Fete/Twilight Fairs are a huge event for the whole community. It is not just about raising funds, but about giving us a celebration. In 2022 our Twilight Fair raised $9500 for our school which was used towards the new fencing along Murphy St and upgrading the sound system in the hall.

The Colour Run/Walkathon is more focused within our school. In 2019, the walkathon raised $10000. Its funds were used for the outdoor area between the school and church, and phonics-based readers for the students. The 2018 funds purchased spheros and other STEM based equipment.

In 2023, we hope to raise another $10000 to go towards fencing along the kinder courtyard and purchasing classroom equipment for our maths daily review lessons.

Colour Fun Run Details  Friday 20th October

A note outlining all the details of the colour run, and a copy of the sponsorship forms, has been sent via COMPASS notification today.

If you have not responded to the COMPASS Event, asking for permission for your child to participate, you will also receive a notification today reminding you to attend to this.

  • Our event starts about 2.15 pm on Friday 20th.
  • Sponsorship forms and donations are due by 9am Monday 30th.
  • Prize draw will take place on Friday 3rd November.

Sun Safety Policy

We are governed by CECG Sun Protection Policy and are an accredited SunSmart School. This means we follow guidelines for sun protection. The key points for families to note are:

  • Our school and sports uniforms are designed to comply with SunSmart guidelines. This includes our school hats.
  • No Hat - Play in shade. We have designated areas of the playground and indoor areas for children who are not wearing hats during lunch and recess.
  • Wherever possible our outdoor activities will be scheduled during the early part of the day to avoid high levels of UV exposure.
  • Sun protection is included in our curriculum.

Yours faithfully,
