Principal's News
Dear Community,
Last week and today, we have held Easter Liturgies aligned with the sequence of events of Holy Week. Last Friday, our Kinder students (with assistance from Year 5) began with a re-enactment of Palm Sunday. Years Five and Six depicted the scene of the Last Supper, Jesus’ death on the cross and concluded with the triumph of the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday.
Holy Week is the most important period in the Church year though, given our commercial world, we might be forgiven for thinking it to be somewhat left in the wake of Christmas. This is particularly so when we compare the joy of Christmas with the events of Holy Week where the story of betrayal, suffering and death dominates events. It is only at the end of the week when we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus that the focus turns to joy and hope.
God’s love for each one of us was perfected in the suffering and death of his son Jesus Christ. The death of Jesus was one of violence and cruelty – betrayed by a friend, deserted by followers, and rejected by those he had tried to help. Yet we realise that God sent Jesus into the world to be the saviour of all, and by sharing in the human condition in its most distressing form, God’s love is manifest in a way which leads us to eternal life.
Below are the Parish events and times for Easter. Participating in these events at Easter will speak volumes to your children about your own beliefs and values.
28 MARCH HOLY THURSDAY 7pm
29 MARCH GOOD FRIDAY 3pm
30 MARCH EASTER VIGIL MASS 7pm
31 MARCH EASTER SUNDAY MASS 8.30am

Staffing News
I want to announce that Mr Aaron Fox will finish this term and has accepted a different educational opportunity as Assistant Director of Pedagogy in the ACT Education Directorate. Aaron has taught for over 22 years in Catholic Education and has been a teacher, Religious Education Coordinator and Coordinator at Sacred Heart for the past 10 years. This employment is an exciting career opportunity for Aaron and he will be missed here at Sacred Heart. There will be an opportunity to officially farewell Aaron with the school community before the end of the term.
The position of ‘Acting Coordinator’ has been advertised and will be filled for Term 2 only. The position of Coordinator at Sacred Heart will be advertised early next term extensively and be appointed next term for commencement from Term 3.
Enrolments for 2025
Officially, the enrolment period for Catholic schools begins in early May: on Monday 6 May and finishes on Friday 24 May. We have already received several kindergarten enrolments and will spend Thursday interviewing many families willing to join Sacred Heart as our new Kinders in 2025.
We will be conducting some targeted marketing and advertising (social media, signs etc) but the best form of advertising, I believe, is ‘word of mouth’. Please spread the word and if you know families interested in a Catholic education at Sacred Heart, to contact me- I am pleased to show them around our great school.
Sacred Heart Primary School will be holding two Open Days for interested families early next term on Monday 6 May and Wednesday 24 May at 9.30-11am and 4-6pm. Enrolment forms are available on our website and can be completed until May 24.
Please inform any friends or family about these days. Please, spread the word!
Working Bee thanks!
A huge thank you to the many staff, parents and children who helped with the Working Bee last Friday evening. What a great job! We had 5 cubic metres of sand moved (all by hand), hedge trimming, whipper-snipping, weeding and cleaning the bike cage. Thanks so much!

Best wishes for a Happy and Holy Easter.
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
