Community Council
The Community Council held their last open meeting for the year this week. Once again it was a small group but that did not stop lively discussion.
- We heard from Christina, our Stage 3 student rep, who brought us some fantastic ideas from the students for the redecoration of the bathrooms. The Council approved budget for paint and art supplies for the Stage 3 students to get started. This project will be started as soon as possible so the graduating Stage 3 students are able to see their ideas brought to life before they leave.
- The results of the school survey are in and are being reviewed in-depth by the executive staff. The high level results are encouraging, with positive results recorded against every measure. The executive staff will review the suggestions and constructive feedback to make our school community shine even brighter.
- Fr Richard joined the meeting and reaffirmed the support of the Parish engaging in our community activities. The Parish roots are tied to the foundation of our school. We will share in the celebration of our 50th Anniversary next year.
- A new initiative linking us to the Canberra Southern Cross Club will provide additional funding benefits in 2020. Josie Lanzetta is working closely with the club to make this process as easy as possible for our community to be involved and the school to benefit.
- Planning continues for the transformation of the internal courtyard into a more accessible place to students. We are waiting on the results of a government grant application and the Fete monies before determining the breadth of the works.
- The K-6 complete meeting was held on 22nd October. The sub-group delivered an interactive presentation put together in response to the Term 3 survey results. There were many discussion points raised including how we can promote the school more successfully to the current community and beyond. The sub-group will meet before the end of the year to discuss how best to continue this initiative into 2020. Thank you to the school for providing YMCA care for the children to allow parents/carers to take part in the discussion.
- The Community Council would like to extend a big Thank you to Kerry and the Fete committee for delivering such a wonderful event in Term 3. Despite the weather the fete was a big success for the school community and the rain did not dampen the spirits of those who attended.
- Our focus now turns to the 2020 our 50th Anniversary of our school and we look forward to the events being arranged by Josie Lanzetta and the anniversary committee. The 50th drone photograph on Monday was an exciting start to this celebration.
- The Council reviewed the activities for community participation this term.
