We are living in unprecedented times and facing challenges in every aspect of our lives. We encourage all families to continue to pray together daily as we all adjust to a new way of life.

“Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge.

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”

Psalm 57:1

With Churches closed and being informed to stay at home, we encourage families to celebrate Holy Week and Easter together. Some suggested ideas are:

Holy Week Liturgy- Included in the Remote Learning Pack

These resources have been produced by Liturgy Brisbane to enable families to celebrate simple liturgies at home for Holy Week.

Make your own Holy Week devotional

  • Palm Sunday:Read and pray through Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Mark 11:1-11)
  • Monday:Begin reading the account of Jesus’ final week in John. Today, read and pray through Jesus’ anointing at Bethany, when Mary pours perfume on his head (John 12:1-11)
  • Tuesday:Read and pray through Jesus’ prediction of his death (John 12:20-36)
  • Wednesday:Read and pray through Jesus’ prediction of his betrayal (John 13:21-30)
  • Thursday:Read and pray through the Last Supper (John 13:1-17, 31-35) and Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-45)
  • Friday:Read and pray through Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion (John 18:28-19:37)
  • Saturday:Read and pray through the burial of Jesus (Matthew 27:57-66)
  • Sunday:Read and pray through the resurrection of Jesus (John 20:1-18)

Pray and Worship together online

Easter is traditionally a time for families and friends to come together and celebrate. So, gather (virtually) with friends and family on a video chat.

Check-in virtually with family and friends, especially the most vulnerable and alone.

Pray the Stations of the Cross Online

You may not be able to walk the Stations of the Cross at church this year, but you can find online resources to do this virtually.

The Catholic Voice is a wonderful resource that provides news, views and stories of life in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

Online Access Survey Data
Thankyou for your amazing response to helping us to plan for Remote Learning by answering the survey in last week’s newsletter.
Generally the results tell us:
  1. Printing would be difficult for most
  2. Families can give each child access to an online device for some parts of most days.
  3. Webcams are an issue. I would add that if you have an iPad or smart phone, then you do have a webcam. Wifi or data may still be an issue with these devices.
  4. All families are comfortable downloading an app or accessing online platforms if given clear instructions.
With this information we can now move ahead with planning what our weeks of learning may look like.
If you flagged an issue, a member of staff will be in contact with you. The survey is still open if you missed it. Please email the office if you have further issues.

Remote Learning and Contact with Teachers
We trust that you have been completing the activities in the Remote Learning Pack. It was designed to be flexible for Weeks 9-10. If a task is not working, abandon it. If your family needs to do something else, arrange that. If your child takes a long time on a task, cancel another task. Reading and writing each day is essential.
 To answer a few questions:
  1. The grid activities are flexible. Colour them (tick multiples) as you complete them.
  2. We will have a more guided timetable next term. We aimed for flexibility this fortnight.
  3. Spelling is missing due to copyright. We are working on this.
  4. Next term will look quite different.
  5. Please start emailing in the five tasks. Yrs 3-6 have the option to submit them via Google Classroom.

Staff have been undertaking professional learning using various online platforms, which will make contacting students and families easier and more personal next term.

We will be setting up agreed protocols about online learning. We remind all students of their ICT User Agreements. This policy can be found on the school website if families would like to refer to it. If you have a personal concern about media permissions in this new environment, please email the office.
Advice for parents and carers to help children have safe experiences online:

Teachers will be contacting families today via email.  The purpose is simply to make contact, check in and allow your family to have some contact with your child’s teacher. Also reminding you to submit 5 pieces of completed work.  Please respond to let us know how you are going by 12 noon tomorrow, Friday 3 April.

We are asking parents and carers to finalise any attendance documents for Term 1 by tomorrow, Friday 3 April. Please email absent notes or use the function on SZapp.
