Conspicuous Service Medal
Scarlett, 2W and Leona KW attended Government House, Yarralumla on Monday to see their father, Lieutenant Commander Raymond McErlean receive a Conspicuous Service Medal for meritorious service as a flight commander on HMAS Melbourne. The girls also received their own coin from his excellency the Governor General for their father's service.

On Monday I went to Government House, Yarralumla. This is where the Governor General lives. I went inside to see my dad get a medal. He got the Conspicuous Service medal. He got this for his trip away on HMAS Melbourne a navy ship. After we saw everyone get a medal we had a function in the grounds. We went into the big dining room and there were drinks and finger food. We ate fairy bread and sandwiches with lots of yummy fillings. I had mineral water and lemon lime bitters soft drinks. We got lots of photos and had a look at lake Burley Griffin and the flowers in the garden. One of the staff working at Government House showed us the office and special function rooms. We saw a wooden buffet with lots and lots of drawers. It had drawers inside of other drawers and had lots of Australian flora and fauna carved and inlaid in the wood. At the end we got to meet the Governor General and had a photo with him and his wife. They gave us our own medal for our Dad's service. It was a very special day.
