COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The Community Council Executive met on Tuesday 28 March and discussed the fundraising, charity focus and key events planned for 2023.

School Events

Our primary fundraising for the year will be at the end of Term 3 with a Colour Run which should be lots of fun for the students.

We also discussed Mothers’ Day celebrations. Our breakfast event was popular previously so we discussed it in some detail as there has been a shift in recent years of less helpers from Dads and other carers, and consequently teachers having to take up the load. Our Treasurer Andrew (Patrick 3R and Olivia 1W) and new member Josh Reeves (Poppy 2R and Maria KW) will lead the volunteering charge for the event on Friday May 12th.  It’s a great morning and a lovely opportunity for Dads to meet each other. Look out for details from Andrew  and Josh in the newsletter shortly and through your parent reps.

School Promotion

Community Council representatives will join staff to promote the school at Pearce Community Markets on 29 April. If you are able to help out on the day for an hour between 10.30 – 3.30 please let the front office know – we would love to have you there to promote our school! (Forward notice – we are planning for our school choir to sing at these markets too!)

School Upgrades

Lastly, the Executive approved expenditure for some outside upgrades. The access boom gate on Murphy street will be replaced with a safer and more modern structure and further improvements to the gating near the kindergarten space will be made to ensure this is fully enclosed from the rear carparks. The money raised from the Twilight Fair will contribute to this cost.

Community Council Survey

Our council is keen to build engagement within our community. It was agreed to survey all families to gain some data to inform our plans. A survey will be provided shortly. We encourage all parents and carers to engage in this process.

Focus for Open next meeting – What Years 4-6 offers for boys

Our next Open Meeting will be on Tuesday 9 May. We have decided to meet in person at school and to start the evening with an information session outlining the advantages of boys staying at Sacred Heart in Years 4-6. We would love for you to join us for wine, cheese and a chat before we roll into our normal open meeting. Further details will be in next week’s reminders.
