Friday 4th August is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day

The theme for this year is "Little Voices, Loud Futures"

Please have a look at the link which explains what the day is about.

This year’s National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme ‘Little Voices, Loud Futures’ fires that ambition. We are raising awareness for the bright futures of our children and the potential for their voices to pave a new path for our nation. As always, we support the voices of our children in calling for a future where they are proud and empowered by their culture to speak their truth and be listened to by all Australians.

School Janitor Position

Sacred Heart have a position available for a school janitor, 4 hours per school week (days and times flexible – preferably between 8am-4.30pm)

Up to 10 hours extra during holidays – as pre-arranged

Please contact the Front Office for more information.

School Community Council

Please join us for the next meeting of the School Community Council on 22 August. For those coming along in person, please arrive at 6:30pm for wine, cheese and chat before our hybrid meeting begins at 7pm. If you are joining online, please let the front office know before 2pm on 22 August and provide your email so we can send you a MS TEAMs link. At this meeting, we will have a focused session on the advantages of boys staying at Sacred Heart through to Year 6, and a discussion on our current learning and wellbeing initiatives. It is a great opportunity to find out more and to come with any questions you may have.

Tennis

Rising Star Tennis Academy are offering lessons during Term 3.

Students in Yrs 3-6 will be able to do the 'Play and Train' program which will be held on Monday lunch times 11:00-11:45am. Students will then eat their lunch in the classroom. Cost $160

Students in Yrs K-2 will be able to do the 'Whiz Kids' program from 11:00-11:30am on Tuesdays. Cost $140.

If your child is interested, please email Mrs Iles to enrol. Once numbers are confirmed payment details will be sent out

Hat On!

It’s time to dust off our school hats again and start wearing them at school every recess and lunch. If you can’t find your child’s hat, you may order one from our uniform shop via Qkr! for $14. Mrs Kane will deliver it to your child’s classroom.

In Canberra sun protection is required for part or most of each day between August and May, when the UV levels generally reach 3 and above. The end of May is ‘Hats Off Day’ whilst the beginning of August is ‘Hats On Again’ for all of us.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN results were sent home with your children last week.

The Athlete’s Foot Canberra, Woden and Tuggeranong recently handed over vouchers to our school that reflects our involvement in their School Rewards Program. That is, for every pair of school shoes one of our students purchases from their store, we receive $5 back from them. Over the years they have donated a generous $1,555 and this year (our efforts from 2022-2023) we received $575 worth of Athlete’s Foot vouchers. To continue this relationship and ongoing rewards, make sure you mention you are from Sacred Heart Primary School when you and your family shop at The Athlete’s Foot!
