This Friday is the feast of Teresa of Avila. She established the Discalced Carmites (‘Discalced’ means shoeless and signified their commitment to poverty). She wrote much about contemplative prayer and was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970.
A popular story describing her intimate relationship with God tells of one of her many journeys around Spain.
“The rivers were so high that the water in places covered everything, neither road nor the smallest footpath could be seen, only water everywhere, and two abysses on each side. It seemed foolish to advance in a carriage. Seeing the alarm of her companions, she turned to them and encouraged them, saying “as they were engaged in doing God’s work, how could they die in a better cause?” She then led the way on foot. The current was so strong that she lost her footing, and was on the point of being carried away when our Lord sustained her. “Oh, my Lord!” she exclaimed, with her usual loving familiarity, “when will you cease from scattering obstacles in our path?” “Do not complain, daughter,” the Divine Master answered, “for this is the way I treat My friends.” “Ah, Lord, it is also on that account that you have so few!” was her reply.
Through this little story we are reminded that we should bring everything to God.
May you trust God
that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget
the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.

Return to School Information for Parents
A communication regarding return to school at Sacred Heart will be sent home to all families on Monday.
Return to School Surveys
To plan for the students' gradual return to school over the coming weeks, we ask you to complete two online forms.
- ‘Returning to School Survey - Sacred Heart’. This will help staff to manage the logistics as we plan for the gradual return of students. The link to this survey will be sent via SZapp and email to parents tomorrow (Friday 15 October). We need everyone to complete this survey for your family ASAP.
- To support your child/children's transition from ‘Remote Learning’ to ‘Face-to-Face’ at Sacred Heart we have prepared a short survey seeking information around your child during remote learning and their feelings about their return to school. We ask you to complete one survey for each child. The link to these surveys will be included in the emails to parents of K-2 and Stage 3 students this Friday and to Stage 2 parents next Friday.
Take care and keep safe
Helping students to adjust back to face-to-face schooling
We know that students will be feeling a range of feelings as they prepare to return to the classroom with their teacher and friends. I have gathered a number of ideas from current research to help parents make this process easier for their child. An important aspect of this is letting children know that others may feel and react differently to them, and that this is okay.
Yours faithfully,

My Prayer, Cooper G 1R
Dear God,
Today I want to pray for all the endangered animals in their time of need.
I pray we make the changes needed so no animal ever becomes extinct again.
I pray hunters learn that what they are doing is wrong.
I pray we can all work together to save endangered species.
In the name of the father and of the son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Congratulations to the following students celebrating their birthday this week
Oliver K, Olivia G, Joshua L, Lilly T.
