Vinnies Canberra Winter Appeal
Thank you to our school community for the very generous donations to this year's St. Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Matt from Vinnies came today to collect the items and had a talk to our Sacred Heart Mini Vinnies group about the role of the Night Patrol Van. The donations will provide much needed help to those in our Canberra community.
Sacred Heart Feast Day
Friday 24th June
Our celebration for the Sacred Heart of Jesus Feast was filled with a willingness by the students, staff and volunteers to support and connect relationships within our school and the wider community.
The day started with a beautiful mass led by Fr. Richard giving the school and the parish, the opportunity to be joyful together and to give thanks and recall the wonders of Jesus’ love for us.
Students then participated in community service activities including preparing the Floriade Community Garden, making biscuits for Vinnies Night Patrol and creating bookmarks for students at Sacred Heart Central School, Cootamundra. It was truly wonderful to see the enthusiasm and engagement of the students.
The whole school participated in a Walkathon to Mawson Ponds and were met by volunteers from ‘Friends of Mawson Ponds’ and ‘ACT Southern Catchment’. They learnt about the area, played ecologically focused games and planted bottlebrushes, dianellas and myoporum parvifoliums. All enjoyed the sausage sizzle and fruit for lunch.
Community spirit was certainly evident throughout our Sacred Heart Feast Day. Thank you to the many parent helpers who made the day a success, we truly value your contribution.
Walkathon sponsorship cards and money can be brought in from now until the final date, Wednesday 20th July. Preferred payment is via QKR but cash is also accepted. If payment is made via QKR please write this on the sponsorship form.
Every $5 donated is one ticket in the Walkathon Raffle that will be drawn on Friday 22nd July (Week 1 Term 3).
