Dear Parents and Carers,
We are quickly heading towards the end of Term 3. We thank you for your understanding and support as we manage the difficulty of finding teachers available when staff are away. Teachers are taking double classes at times and we are having to use day away folders more than we would like.
Happy Father’s Day to all of our Dads
This Sunday, Australians take time to celebrate the gift of our fathers. On Friday we will host our SHPS community event, sharing breakfast, praying together at mass and having classroom visits. We appreciate that there may be some parents unable to attend due to work commitments, but know you will be with us in spirit and you will certainly be in our prayers and thoughts.
Remember the paper plane challenge because you could win even if you need to be at work.
Community Council
Thank you to all of the parents who attended last week’s Community Council meeting. Your presence and contributions to discussions were much appreciated.
Literacy and Numeracy Week
Next week Australia celebrates numeracy and literacy week. Why not spend some family time playing a word-based (5 second rule, scrabble) or number-based game (cards, yahtze).
Take care and keep safe

Sacred Heart Community Ride and Walk to school Morning
Our Term 3 Ride or Walk to school morning is Friday 15th September, Week 9.
This term we would like to build an independent ride and walking community within our school. The warmer weather is coming, which means riding or walking to school may become a more practical option of getting to school for some families.
Normally, students would meet teachers at various pick up locations within our community. We have loved doing this for our Sacred Heart Community, but now it is time to hand this over to parents/carers who may wish to organise riding/walking to school groups around your local area. We are hoping that by doing this, we are empowering your child/ren to build their confidence and independence to actively commute to school more safely and frequently.
Ways to organise this could be to find information and communicate/connect via The Sacred Heart Parents and Carers Facebook page or utilise other parent networks you have. (You may wish to set up a WhatsApp community to organise daily or weekly walking to school days). We will also send out our usual meeting points (without teachers) so parents can meet there and send their children on their way to school. This may help to organise future riding/walking mornings and if some parents are able to walk with the group, they can talk about how to get to school safely with the children.
As usual, we will have fresh fruit, music and a raffle draw when students arrive at school.
We hope this begins an exciting chapter of confidence and independence for our Sacred Heart Students, enabling them to nurture their hearts, minds and spirits.
Thank you Anne and Bentley for donating some wonderful new spades and rakes.
At playgroup this week we enjoyed playing with ducks in water and using our fingerprints to make something special for our Dads.
Week 6 we had our annual Book Week with author visit both live and virtually and then concluded the week with Book Week dress up and parade.
