Dear Community,
Many of our Year 6 students are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, an important step in their faith journey. Confirmation is a sacred rite in which the Holy Spirit strengthens the candidates, deepening their commitment to the Catholic faith and empowering them to live out their beliefs with renewed courage and conviction.
Please note that enrolments for Confirmation closed yesterday. If you missed the deadline, kindly contact the Parish Office as soon as possible to discuss your child's participation. A Parent Information Evening will be held next Wednesday, 7 August, at 6:30 pm, providing valuable insights and guidance for families preparing for this significant sacrament.
The Confirmation Masses will occur on Friday, 30 August, at 6 pm and Saturday, 31 August, at 6 pm. We look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with our students and their families as they take this meaningful step in their spiritual lives.
Celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten!
Congratulations to our kindergarten students, who recently celebrated their 100th day of school! This milestone was marked with a fun and creative twist, as the children dressed up as if they were 100 years old. The adorable and imaginative costumes—from walking sticks to grey wigs—brought a lot of smiles and laughter to everyone at school. Seeing our young learners embrace this milestone with enthusiasm and creativity is lovely. Well done, kindergartners! Here's to many more exciting days of learning and growing together!
Enrolment update
For the 2025 academic year, we've been allocated two Kindergarten classes, each already having 16 eager young learners enrolled. Having two classes allocated is great news and allows more families to join our vibrant school community.
Our overall enrolments are pleasing, too. We started the year with 186 students and are pleased to announce that we currently have 204 students—a significant increase that speaks volumes about the positive reputation and solid educational environment here at Sacred Heart.
A special mention goes to our thriving Playgroup, which now boasts over 100 enrolled children. This incredible growth is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Mrs. Katherine Wills, whose passion and commitment have made the Playgroup a nurturing and welcoming space for young families.
We encourage everyone to spread the word about our great school. Your support, whether through word of mouth or community engagement, helps us grow and provide exceptional educational experiences for our students.
Green and Gold Day
Tomorrow we are hosting our 'Green and Gold Day', as we join together to enter the Olympic spirit and cheer on our Australian athletes competing in the Games! Students are encouraged to show their Aussie pride by wearing casual clothes in green and gold- let's deck out in our national colours and bring the energy and enthusiasm of the Olympics right to our Sacred Heart! We will have some fun activities, too, and it is a great opportunity to celebrate our national pride, support our Olympians, and have a lot of fun together.
Personally, I will be donning the Australian uniform for real tomorrow- competing in an International Oztag Tournament in Coffs Harbour until Sunday. I will be away until Tuesday morning.
National Stamp and Coin Show- 12-15 September
Sacred Heart School has been given 15 family day passes for the National Stamp and Coin Show, which will be held from September 12 to 15 at Thoroughbred Park.
Over 120 extensive Stamp exhibits from private collections all over Australia will be displayed. Many of these displays have won National and international awards for their quality and rarity of material. ACT Coin Club will be there, with daily displays of their members' Australian and world coinage collections and banknotes.
If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact the Front office- first in, first served.
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
Principal

"Good learners ... need to be aware of how their learning is going, and make strategic decisions about it" (Claxton, G.,2002).
Parents, please keep an eye out on Friday for a beautifully decorated envelope. This envelope contains your child's learning goals for Semester 2. Your child has decided on these as independently as possible and has tried to explain their answers. This gives their classroom teacher a good insight into what they would like to work towards this semester, it helps the students be accountable for their own learning and where they would like their learning to progress to.
We have also included a parent section where we would like you to let the teacher know of a learning and/or social goal for this semester. Please return the parent component back to the classroom teacher.
*** Kinder Learning Goals will sent home next week***
Sacred Heart Community Winter Ride and Walk to school Morning
Our Term 3 Ride or Walk to school morning, Friday 9th August, Week 3.
Please organise walking/riding to school this day. Ways to do this could be to communicate/connect via The Sacred Heart Parents and Carers Facebook page or utilise other parent networks you have (you may wish to set up a whats app to organise daily or weekly walking to school days). Please find attached our usual meeting points (without teachers) so parents can meet there and send their children on their way to school. This may help to organise future riding/walking mornings and if some parents are able to walk with the group, they can talk about how to get to school safely with the children.
As usual, we will have fresh fruit, music and a raffle draw when students arrive at school.
We hope this continues building confidence and independence for our Sacred Heart Students, enabling them to nurture their hearts, minds and spirits.
Congratulations to Sacred Heart student Nicholas R, who was recently welcomed into the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Baptism.
Lord, thank you for the precious gift of Baptism, where we can declare our love and passion for you.
Lord, we ask for your goodness and blessings to be poured out on Nicholas. We pray that you work deeply within his heart and soul to renew and refresh him each day.
On Tuesday, kindergarten celebrated 100 days of school.
They came to school dressed like they were 100 years old and they looked fantastic!
Their buddies came to visit them and presented them with handwritten cards with beautiful messages.
The children spent the day celebrating by doing lots of fun activities!
Happy 100 days Kindergarten!!
