Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic evening we had at last week’s Sacred Heart Trivia Night! A huge thank you to our quiz master, Damon Hietbrink, and his expert off-sider, Elsa, for keeping us entertained and thinking hard throughout the night. The Community Council worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a seamless event, and we are so grateful to the families who generously donated prizes. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended, it was truly a wonderful celebration of community spirit.
Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $700 for Vinnies, supporting their incredible work in our community. We are already looking ahead to next year’s event, expect something even bigger and better!
Sacred Heart Feast Day- Friday 27 June
Next Friday, we will come together to celebrate Sacred Heart Feast Day, a special occasion that reminds us of the deep love, compassion, and faith at the heart of our school’s mission.
The day will begin with Mass at 9:30am, and we warmly invite parents and visitors to join us. This Feast Day is an opportunity to remember the profound message of the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a love that is unconditional, generous, and always guiding us towards kindness and service.
Following Mass, the school will be buzzing with fun activities as students engage in a day filled with joy, teamwork, and creativity. There will be games, community-building experiences, and opportunities to reflect on the values that make our school special.
Sacred Heart Feast Day is a treasured tradition that deepens our connection to our faith, our school community, and the spirit of service.
Vinnies CEO Sleepout
Tomorrow, I will take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout at Old Parliament House. Thanks to your support of the trivia night and Winter Woollies Day, which has helped support this.
This marks my 8th year participating, and while one night sleeping rough does not equate to the experience of homelessness, it raises awareness and much-needed funds for those who face this reality daily. Homelessness is not just about lacking shelter—it’s about the absence of stability, security, and support to live a fulfilling life.
With more than 122,000 Australians experiencing homelessness each night, we must come together as a community to take action, create change, and stand in solidarity with those who need our support.
Thank you for your generosity, your encouragement, and your commitment to making a difference. I look forward to sharing my experience with you all.

Staffing News
Next term, I will be taking leave for the first three weeks to embark on a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi as part of the Pilgrims of Hope initiative in this Jubilee Year within the Church. This pilgrimage is a deeply spiritual opportunity to reflect, renew, and strengthen my faith and leadership as a Catholic Principal. Walking in the footsteps of St. Peter, St. Paul, and St. Francis of Assisi will offer insights that I hope to share with our school community.
I will also take some time for rest and renewal, returning refreshed for Week 4, Term 3. In my absence, our school will be in great hands, Mrs Kerry Wode will serve as Acting Principal, Mr Matthew Maloney as Acting Assistant Principal, and Mrs Janica Morella as Acting Coordinator.
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
