Dear Parents and Carers,
As we all continue to adjust to our new physical distancing and stay at home arrangements, I am constantly reminded of the very small things in life that bring joy and for which I am grateful for. The beautiful moon last night, the sun that keeps shining, the creativity I see in people trying to stay connected with each other, the expressions of neighbourhood care and the wonderful insight into some of the magic moments happening in learning at home.
As we approach an Easter which will be very different for us I want to remind you that you are in our thoughts. Please enjoy the break with your family and people you love. We have missed you all and send you every blessing of the Easter Season.
Take Care and God Bless.
Remote Learning Term 2
Thank you to the families who quickly responded to the Attendance Survey and who read the long ‘Update’ communicated to families on April 6.
The teachers have worked tirelessly this week to learn Microsoft Teams and to use Google Classroom.
We ask that families check their emails from Thursday April 23 for information from your child’s teachers. If your child already knows their Google Classroom log in, then details will be available here also.
This email will provide you with details of how to access Microsoft Team using your child’s email account and for the younger classes how to access the Google Classroom as well. Please attend to these tasks between April 23-28. If you run into any difficulties you can email your child’s teacher. If it is an ICT support question you can phone the CE ICT Support Desk on 1300 232 448.
Once your child has access to these platforms, they will then be able to see their classwork for the first week of term.
Your child will be guided in their learning, 5 days a week, during Term 2 and have daily video meets with their teacher using Microsoft teams.

Pupil Free Day
The Director of Catholic Education has announced a pupil free day for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese on Tuesday 28 April. We at SHPS, are aware that there are families who have already expressed when they need to send their children to school next term though the survey responses. So we already have plans in place for the children we are expecting in week one (this includes Tuesday 28 April). We thank you all for your continuing support during this time.
Holy Week is a time for prayer and reflection. Pope Francis reminds us that “living Holy Week, following Jesus, means learning how to come out of ourselves to reach out to others, to go to the outskirts of existence, to be the first to move towards our brothers and sisters, especially those who are most distant, those who are forgotten, those who are most in need of understanding, consolation and help. There is so much need to bring the living presence of Jesus, merciful and full of love”. (Pope Francis 2013)
An Easter Reflection…..
What the resurrection of Jesus promises, is that things can always be new again.
It’s never too late to start over.
Nothing is irrevocable.
No betrayal is final. No sin is unforgiveable.
Every form of death can be overcome.
There isn’t any loss that can’t be redeemed. Every day is now.
“The resurrection assures us that God never gives up on us even if we give up on ourselves.”

The Encounter: Way of the Cross
The Encounter: Way of the Cross is a guided series of testimonies, scriptures, reflections and prayers that follow the final encounters of Jesus. The Way of the Cross is the journey of Jesus. It is also our journey. As you undertake this journey, be open to encountering Jesus in a new this Easter.

HOW ARE YOU GOING AT HOME DURING THIS PERIOD OF REMOTE LEARNING?
We know there are many wonderful things happening in homes as families are focused on growing their Learning Assets. These are a key focus for us as an Inquiry School, guided by the work Kath Murdoch- The Power of Inquiry, 2015:
We are thinkers
We are researchers
We are communicators
We are collaborators
We are self-managers
We would love to share examples of learning opportunities that are happening at home through our Newsletter. If you would like us to share, please email photographs and a brief description to the office, office.shps@cg.catholic.edu.au
Or alternatively you can post it on the Sacred Heart Parents and Carers Facebook page and see the yearbook message below.
