Celebrating NAIDOC Week
Starting Sunday, we begin our celebration of NAIDOC Week. This year’s theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be' recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.'
The First Nations People ‘are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations.’ From https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2020-theme
This year it is timely to recognise the First Nations people as skilled agriculturalists, artists, engineers and architects whose many nations criss-crossed Australia.
Remembrance Day
On Wednesday 11 November at approximately 11.40am we will gather to remember and recognise the contributions of all Australians during times of war. The poster on the left was created the Department of Veteran Affairs to commemorate the end of World War II and highlight the celebrations that took place on the home front as the announcement was made.
Once again, we are sorry the current restrictions do nott allow us to have visitors.
Thank you to parents and children
Thank you to everyone for your expressions of gratitude to staff last week as we celebrated Teachers Day. Your kindnesses were much appreciated.
All Souls Day
If you would like to send in a prayer card for members of your family or friends who have passed away please send it in and we will place it of the prayer wall. We will continue to keep you and them in our prayers through the month of November.
SAFETY Reminders
Please remember that there are no staff on duty before 8.30 in the morning. If you need to drop your child/ren because of work commitments, consider booking into the Before School Care program.
Take care and God bless,
World Teacher Day
On the 30th October it was World Teachers Day in Australia. The children gave thank you awards to all staff, with comments about what they are grateful for.
We congratulated Mrs Janica Morella for receiving a recognition award from Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn for her contribution to EaLD and Literacy. We are very fortunate to have the talented Mrs Morella on our teaching team.
Yours faithfully,

Community Garden Day - Saturday 21st November 9:30am onwards
The garden between the church and the school has become weary and overgrown. We are holding a working bee on Saturday the 21st of November to clear all the old growth and plants from this length of garden and replant a new fresh row of plants to revitalise and refresh this area. We will be starting from 9:30 and will work through until finished. All help is welcome. Volunteers would need to bring their own gardening tools to use, including shovels, garden forks, pruners, gloves, etc. It would be appreciated for some people to bring their trailers to help to dispose of the garden waste to Mugga Lane.

Sacramental Program changes from Mary Help of Christian’s Parish.
For 2021, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, for those not previously accomplished, is now part of your child’s preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion during Year 4. The readiness necessary for the Sacrament of Reconciliation consists in knowing between right and wrong. This includes, appropriate to the child’s age, an understanding of what sin is. The readiness required for First Communion is similar: that the child is in the right disposition to receive Communion, and has the ability to recognise the difference between the Eucharist and ordinary bread and wine.
As combining these two sacraments during Year 4 is new in our Parish for 2021, your child may have previously completed First Reconciliation during Year 3. If that is the case, you just enrol your child for First Holy Communion. Detailed information is provided in the attached letter and on the Parish website http://www.mhoc.org.au/sacraments/first-holy-communion/
For any more information please contact the Parish Office on 02 6286 1908 or email.
