A Christmas Prayer for Action
When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with the flocks, then the work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, to heal those broken in spirit, to feed the hungry, to release the oppressed, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among all peoples, to make a little music with the heart. And to radiate the Light of Christ, every day, in every way, in all that we do and in all that we say. Then the work of Christmas begins.
–Howard Thurman
We come to the end of another year and it is time to express our gratitude to everyone in our community for their gift and contributions. This year has been filled with many challenges, but we have so much to celebrate as the yearbook demonstrates.
May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child.
May you be filled with the:-
Blessings of peace
Beauty of hope
Spirit of love
Comfort of faith
May this be your gift this Christmas Season.
To all those families who are leaving SHPS in 2020 we wish you well and send you every blessing for the future.
Online CAROLS
We hope you enjoyed our SHPS Carols presentation for 2020. We thank Mr Fox for bringing it together and editing it to produce the quality product for everyone to relish. We certainly saw the result of many creative ideas, enormous energy, and skill.
Take care and God bless,
A wish from the Sacred Heart BeYou Action Team.
We hope we have nurtured your heart this year with the articles and webinars we have shared through the newsletter. It is a highlight of our week to share items that bring us joy and speak to our community in that moment.
Many families have told us that Parenting Ideas is helpful, so we will be continuing this subscription. Look out in 2021 for articles from Parenting TV, Generation Next and of course the BeYou network.
Today's last article is adapted from a wonderful blog called ‘Inspiring Girls’.
Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy holiday.
Kerry Wode, Tash Barrenger, Brendan Mitchell and the BeYou Action Team
PS: And if you want a day trip from Canberra during the holidays, visit the Big Hole off the Cooma Road south of Braidwood. The bonus is after the hike up the hill, you get to swim in the Shoalhaven River and picnic in the shady rest area!
‘tis the season to gorge on love and connection
2020 has been a difficult time by anyone’s standards, and many of us have adapted, but the cost has been the juicy parts of ourselves. Even our kids seem a little skinny inside. They’re tired.
We all get tired and it is the juicy parts of ourselves that are sacrificed first, our connection, our creativity, our gentle fun.
Being on holidays is an opportunity to allow children and teenagers to flex their muscles. Literally, they get to run and climb and swim and play for hours at a time. But we can also give them the opportunity to discover new muscles.
We can give them the chance to take control and direct our days! They can use their creative and problem-solving muscles in real life. We have the opportunity to allow kids to make decisions about what we do and how we do it.
When we have years’ worth of holidays in our family memory vault, they sustain us even in the skinny, dry times. We can call them forth and they have the power to regenerate us. They help to keep us fat with connection and love…no matter what.
