As we enter the Easter Season we pray;
Risen Lord, fill our hearts with your Easter joy.
May the light of your new life shine forth from us
So that we may fill the world with the good news
of your Resurrection.
We wish everyone in the community a wonderful holiday. If you are leaving Canberra, travel safely. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday dressed in their summer uniform ready for school photos.
We wish Miss Bartley and her fiancé every blessing as they celebrate their marriage this weekend.
Take care and God bless,
Communicators
Communicators can communicate ideas confidently in different ways and for different purposes. They listen thoughtfully to what others communicate. They can adapt their communication style to different contexts. (K. Murdoch ‘Power of Inquiry’ p98)
Communicators know that we use our whole bodies to express ourselves. They learn to manage their voice and word choice for different audiences and purposes. Examples of times when we may teach the assets of being a communicator may include:
- Use our body and face as well as words to communicate effectively
- Confidently share our thinking and feeling
- Speak to others in a way that helps them understand
- Create digital texts to communicate ideas
- Use the right voice and language for different situations
- Listen carefully to what we are hearing and show others that we are listening
- Ask questions to help us understand
- Design and use criteria to plan and assess our communication
- Select the right communication form for the purpose or context
- Persuade and convince an audience
Kinder and Stage 1 will focus on being ‘Confident’. Stage 2 and 3 will develop language about all three – Confident, Respectful, Responsive
Yours faithfully,

SZapp – Managing your messages
SZapp is our main avenue for communicating with families. It was brought to our attention this week that some families were missing some messages. We discovered that not everyone knew to update their preferences to receive messages for a particular stage. So, within the SZapp app
- Select the MANAGE tab
- Toggle on PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
- Toggle on the name of your child’s STAGE group
We do not publish the security code for Sacred Heart in writing. Please speak to staff and other parents for our code or phone the office.
If you have the app for a number of schools, we advise you to select the DEFAULT SUBSCRIPTION to best suit you, and then carefully monitor messages from all schools.
Term 2 Events, Learning Journeys, Open days and our Enrolment Period
We are monitoring COVID-19 restrictions and hoping to welcome parents, carers and visitors back into the school for more events starting next term. Please monitor our communications at the beginning of Term 2 carefully for how we will manage bookings and visits for Open Days, learning journeys or classroom visits, enrolment visits, Friday assemblies and our all-important Mother’s Day celebrations.
Open Days Save the Dates – 5th, 7th and 13th May 2021 Open days for current and prospective families.
We are aware there are many families across the school who have not had a chance to visit to see what schooling at Sacred Heart is like across all grades K-6. This year our Open Days will welcome current and prospective parents to take a tour and/or talk to staff about Sacred Heart K-6. Please save a date and watch for details.
Please Click Here for our K-6 Brochure, promoting the wonderful opportunities Sacred Heart Pearce offers from Playgroup – to Year 6. We encourage you to take a new look and to pass it on to local families.

We would like to share some communication in regards to the achievements of one of our students.
Phoebe's Mum's heart was bursting with pride today as she donated 30 bags of groceries worth $1000. They were incredibly grateful and blessed that so many people supported Pheobe's idea for a Food Drive. Communities @work were delighted and surprised to see 4 trolleys of groceries come out of one car.
Mum is " grateful she's part of a school who foster that sense of community and giving."
Stage 3 Camp
This week Stage 3 headed off to camp at Kianinny which is located on the South Coast at Tathra. The children did various activities over the three days. Some of the activities included archery, raft building, flying fox, low ropes and mini golf. All children are to be commended on their excellent behaviour and willingness to participate in all activities.
