We have heard some Parents and Carers are not receiving all communications from the school. If this is happening for someone you know please ask them to email the Front Office.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back. I hope everyone was able to enjoy a lovely family break with the extra public holidays.
An email went out to families this week announcing our move to SZapp from Skoolbag. We are hoping that linking it with the website and new newsletter format will minimise errors.

We extend our sympathy to Fr Richard and his family on the death of his mother and Tracy Kane on the death of her sister in-law.

Due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms for tomorrow's Cross Country Carnival and Run4Colour Explosion we have made the decision to postpone the day to Friday 24th May at Pearce Oval.
Safety
A reminder that children should not be arriving at school before 8.30am as there is no supervision. If you need to drop your children earlier due to work commitments, there is a Before School Service provided by YMCA each weekday morning.
Yours faithfully,
Anne Staines
Principal
Watch out – Parking Fines About
On Murphy St, between Pendred St and Murphy Cres, the intersection is marked by solid dividing lines. You can be fined for parallel parking close to a dividing line/strip. This intersection is adjacent to our boom gate / northwest end of oval. Please be aware of where you are parking around this area.
Goodbye 'Skoolbag', Hello 'SZapp'
We ask that you delete the Skoolbag app as we are replacing it with the SZapp app. Please view SZapp Instruction for all the details.
Between 3.15pm and 3.30pm Procedures
Due to the change in buses and concerns for safety we are adapting our after school duties in the kinder courtyard area.
Bus 62 - we ask your child to line up with the Murphy St walkers. The teacher will take the children up to the bus stops on Hodgson Cres and wait until the children have hopped on the buses. Walkers proceed as before.
Kinder Courtyard pick up - the children sit, supervised by the teacher, until they have been picked up. No child, in school uniform is to play in this area, on the equipment or little soccer field until after the duty has finished at 3.30 pm. Any child not picked up at this time will be brought around to the front office.
Procedures for other areas remain the same. We remind all parents, carers and students that students should always wait to be picked up in the designated areas where there are teachers on duty. No child should be playing on the grounds or equipment between 3.15pm and 3.30pm, unless part of an organised activity.
Congratulations
We congratulate Ms Meg Klomp and Ms Annie Brill on their graduation during April.
Yours Faithfully
Assistant Principal

Most tests will happen early each morning, so please arrange for your child to be prepared by arriving at school for the morning assembly, with a routine start to the day. Your child will need their device charged and their headphones at school for each testing day. If your child is ill on a day, please contact Kerry Wode.
Please help your child prepare by reassuring them that NAPLAN is just one part of their school program, and by reminding them on the day to simply try their best. Teachers will ensure students are familiar with the types of questions in the tests and will provide appropriate support and guidance. Families are welcome to visit the public demonstration site at nap.edu.au to familiarise themselves with this online testing.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, the online tests or your child’s participation please contact your child’s teacher, Kerry Wode as the NAPLAN Coordinator or Anne Staines.

Name: Mrs IMBRIANO (Katie)
Teaching: 5/6 Red
Before I was at Sacred Heart, I was lucky to work as a Learning Support teacher at St Judes Primary School for two years whilst I finished my Education degree. I then was offered a job at Marist Junior School and taught there for eight years until I had my first son. I worked part time at Gymbaroo and then decided to go back into teaching. I was lucky to have the opportunity to work at Sacred Heart and feel truly fortunate to be working in such an amazing community.
I have three children Oliver (11), Joseph (8) and Vincent (6).
I also have a very adorable pet rabbit called Buddy.
I have to admit I do have a weakness for chocolate. M & Ms and Cherry Ripes are among my favourites.
I don’t have a lot of spare time to follow my favourite professional sports team as I used to. So my favourite sports teams are those of my children. I love watching them play and enjoy their sports. I am quite the cheer squad!
I think if I could be a superhero it would be Wonder Woman. She empowers woman to be strong and her abilities include speed, stamina and durability, which I could use in my everyday life! Wonder Woman’s lasso could also come in handy trying to wrangle three boys.
If I was not teaching I would like to be involved in Sports Science and Human Movement. I also would also like to be a Police Officer as I enjoyed my time volunteering in the State Emergency Service, working with the Police and other Emergency Agencies.
I have oh so many fond memories of funny quotes from students! I will always remember a child calling a tsunami ‘a salami’ all lesson, even after I corrected them, they still called it a salami.
You may not know that I love, love, love wearing my unicorn slippers!
Name: Mr FRENCH (Jason)
Teaching: 3/4 Navy
Nickname: Frenchy
I started out my teaching career at Holy Family Primary School in Gowrie 2005. I also taught in London in 2006. In 2007 I worked at St Benedicts in Narrabundah and St John Vianneys in Warramanga. I started teaching at Sacred Heart in 2008. I have taught every grade except Kindergarten.
I have an amazing son called Angus and a Golden Retriever called Lexie (daughter).
I am much more of a savoury person so I prefer hot chips to chocolate for sure.
Everybody knows my favourite sports team! The Canberra Raiders!
If I could be a superhero or have a superpower, I would like to be Superman (and flying would be pretty cool).
If I wasn’t teaching, I am pretty interested in the environment so I would be a park ranger or fishing guide.
You may not know that I am a very keen angler, not that I get much time to get out these days!
We are selling Liquid Fertiliser
Thanks to the efforts of our past and present Environment and Stage 3 Leaders our worm farms are producing some black liquid gold fertiliser. We are collecting our worm wee in 3L milk containers which we have re purposed from the canteen and staffroom. We are selling our produce for $2.50 per bottle while stocks last.
When applying this black liquid gold fertiliser to your garden remember to dilute the worm wee 1:10L. This means you are getting 30L of 'A grade' liquid fertilser for less than a cup of coffee. Wow that is good value! All proceeds will go towards other sustainability initiatives within our school.
Hurry while stocks last!
Chess class started today for Term 2. Chess is on Thursdays at 11:00am to 11:45am in the library.
