Sacred Heart Feast Day Friday 11th June
The school will be celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday 11th June. The students will attend mass and participate in a range of activities that will create an awareness, understanding and appreciation of our environment. Pope Francis' second encyclical Laudato Si' (Praised Be You) is a document about caring for our world and the current ecological crisis we are facing. He calls us all to ‘care for our common home’.
Sacred Heart has been successful in its application for a community Floriade planting program. This will be one of the wonderful service activities during our Sacred Heart Feast Day. We will be demonstrating how we can connect to others in our community through meaningful action. Keep an eye on the garden out the front of the school over the next few weeks.
- All children are asked to wear their sports uniform on this day.
- Ordered Sacred Heart treats will be handed out at recess.
- Children are welcome to bring gardening glove (please label)
- Parents are welcome to help with the activities between 11.45-1.45pm. Please sign in at the Front Office.
The Vinnies Winter Appeal provides emergency relief to people at risk and experiencing homelessness. Your donation and support will help ensure that families at risk of homelessness get the financial and emotional support they need to keep themselves and their children safe.
Particularly in these colder months we ask for:
- Blankets
- Large Jackets
- Large Jumpers
- Warm Gloves and Socks
- Sleeping Bags
These donations then go directly to people in need in your community.
The Sacred Heart Community is encouraged to donate any of the items listed above to help support the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Donations can be handed into the Front Office.
The next MHOC Youth Group meeting is coming up on Sat 19th June. If you are in Years 5 to 8 please come along from 4.30 to 6pm and Years 9-12 from 7-9pm. Feel free to bring a friend for some games, food and good conversation. This Youth Group will meet on a fortnightly basis unless otherwise noted.
Please email Nick Weir or call on 0452 208 151 with any questions.
Playgroup
Playgroup has been making some wonderful box creations and enjoying each other’s company while playing in the ball pit, doing wet chalk drawings, threading and peg activities.
Little Hearts Playgroup is a great place for children and parents to make new friends.
Cooking with Mrs Kane
This week 5/6 White joined Mrs Kane in the Maker Space to have their turn at making pikelets.
Last week’s Peer Support session focused on positive self talk. Children need to practise talking positively to themselves. The children also learnt perseverance, which will encourage them to keep trying in challenging situations. We encourage your child to use positive self talk.
There will be no Peer Support sessions this week. Children will be working together in their Peer Support groups during the Scared Heart Feast Day activities.
Congratulations to the following students celebrating their birthday this week
Harrison A, Emily D, Isabella D.
