Celebrating Grandparents and Special Friends
The First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be held on the 25th July. His Holiness Pope Francis established this special day earlier this year. With the current uncertainty of COVID–19 we have had to postpone our usual Grandparents Day. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused but will be looking to celebrate this day at the beginning of Term 4 (COVID–19 restrictions permitting)
Student Learning Goals
Included with your child’s report at the end of last term was a Student Learning Goals proforma. It was intended to support discussion with your child / children about their next learning goals. The children who have already brought them in are talking to their teachers about these goals. We encourage you to take the time to fill in this form and return it to school if haven’t already done so that your child/children can be having these discussions with their teacher.
Community Council Meeting
Tuesday evening 27th July at 7pm via Zoom. Click to join Zoom meeting
100 days of School
Kindergarten will celebrate this milestone next Friday morning. The children will dress up to look 100 years old. Parents of Kindergarten children have been invited to attend an assembly following the morning line-up on Friday next week. To assist families, we will be giving out awards after Kinder's presentation. We expect that the assembly will begin at about 9.05am.
We appreciate your support in keeping the current COVID -19 protocols
- check-in on entering the school
- follow the 1.5 social distancing requirements
- sit in household groups (seats will be set up in twos)
Website Assistance Required
Do you hate it when links on websites don’t work or a typo gets published? So do we! Can you help us get it right?
Kerry Wode and Lisa Davis have been slowly checking the information and weblinks on our school webpage to ensure they are correct.
We are hoping that someone in our community can help us with our checking. If you have a spare hour or two to help us, from the comfort of your own home, please email us.

Rostrum
On Wednesday 21 July, Ellison H (5/6N) represented Sacred Heart at the Woden-Weston quarter final at Arawang Primary School.
Her speech on 'Going to Mars' was excellently presented and loved by the audience. Ellison worked incredibly hard and we are so proud of her outstanding effort and presentation.
Well done Elli.
Playgroup
This week at playgroup we had playdough, puppets, and princesses playing.
And to celebrate Grandparents day we had our adopted Playgroup Grandma Mrs Barb Gerrity come and read to us.
Playgroup are looking for donations of wooden puzzles. If you have puzzles that are no longer needed in your cupboards we would really appreciate them.
Any donations can be left at the front office.
1 Red Assembly
"It's a fox!" Year 1 Red entertained us with a live assembly. They acted out Mem Fox's Hattie and the Fox. Great acting. Great costumes. Great fun! It was lovely to welcome families to view the performance.
1 White Maths
Year 1 White are playing Salute and Walk the Plank to improve their number fluency. Such great collaboration going on when working in small groups.
5/6 Navy Cooking
5/6 started off this term's cooking. Mrs Kane taught the children how to make pizza scrolls.

This term the whole school will be participating in various STEM activities on a Friday. Some of the activities include BeeBots, Ozmo Kits, Spheros and Coding.
Sacred Heart Floriade Community Garden
The annuals and bulbs that were planted on Sacred Heart Feast Day are starting to grow.

The NAIDOC theme, 'Heal Country!', calls us all to continue to seek great protection for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and cultural heritage.
