Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to term 2. Staff have loved the opportunity to touch base with the children in their class. Thank you to all families who are remote learning from home and those parents who are setting their children up for success by having everything organised and equipped for successful remote learning at school.
We also thank you, for your support and patience with the few technical and timing issues we have experienced.
A short extract from -
A Guide To Self-Care And Wellbeing During Times Of Uncertainty from the Good Grief website
In times of uncertainty, it is normal and natural for children and adults to respond in unique ways. It can be helpful to focus on the aspects of our lives that we can control like caring for our physical, health, safety and emotional wellbeing.
“The only thing in life that is permanent is change. Change is the constant in life”
(Fallon 2013)
Steps to Self-care
There are things that you can do to support yourself, your friends and your family:
Listen – to your needs and own advice
Offer Kindness – for yourself and others
Seek Support – It’s OK to ask for help and advice
We will publish more from this brochure over time.
Take care over the coming week.

Hello beautiful Sacred Heart families
The staff hope to bring you a little joy each week with ideas for family fun, connection and wellbeing.
We used this idea in our family when we had all experienced a challenging day. Our happy hands have a positive thought about the current situation on every finger. Sharing our positives made us smile and they are now stuck on the fridge for us to see throughout the day - Mrs Barrenger, Student Welfare Officer.
With all the wonderful craft you are doing why not enter into the Communities at Work craft challenge? https://www.facebook.com/communitiesatwork/photos/a.410498272348166/3034029513328349/?type=3&theater

Book Club Virtual Catalogue – Issue 3, 2020 (Standard)
Term 2 Book Club catalogues are digital only (no paper catalogues) this term for the first time ever. To access and purchase from the latest issue, please go to https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/virtual-catalogue-1/ We encourage you to sit down with your child and go through the catalogue together, discussing any books that sparks your child’s interest.
Once you and your child has made your final selection, click anywhere on the page to be redirected to the Scholastic LOOP website or go to the Scholastic LOOP app to place your order. LOOP orders are linked to your school in an easy, safe online process. Registering for LOOP will also keep you up-to-date with all of the latest Book Club news, information on exciting new releases, and our exclusive Book Club special offers.
Our Book Club Organiser will then take care of the rest! After everyone’s order is submitted by the closing date of 18 May 2020, the Scholastic team will pack your child’s order full of exciting things.
Your child’s order is then delivered to the school, ready to take home and be eagerly read. If our regular Book Club distribution procedure needs to be adapted, an electronic announcement will be made. Orders that you have marked as a ‘gift’ in LOOP will be sent to the school for you to secretly pick-up instead.
Message from Commonwealth Bank
The health, safety and wellbeing of our communities and our people remains our highest priority. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, the School Banking program will remain on hold. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with any updates including how we will be managing Dollarmite tokens for students.
In the meantime, here are some handy online resources for parents who wish to maintain momentum with their child’s financial education:
- Start Smart: these resources have been created to improve children’s money management skills, and is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and the National Consumer Financial Literacy Framework.
- The Beanstalk: offers videos and fun activities for children to learn about money.
